About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Graduate Electrical Engineer (a recent Masters or PhD in Electrical Power Systems would be Advantageous) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will focus on high-voltage power transmission, HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) systems, controls & protection, and load flow studies. This position is ideal for a recent graduate with a strong academic background in electrical engineering who is eager to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting, with opportunities for both professional development and hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- High Voltage Power Transmission: Assist in the design, analysis, and optimization of high-voltage power transmission systems.
- HVDC Systems: Support the development and maintenance of HVDC transmission systems, focusing on controls and protection schemes to ensure reliable operation.
- Load Flow Studies: Conduct power flow analysis and simulations to assess the performance, stability, and efficiency of electrical grids.
- System Modeling & Simulation: Develop and use simulation models for power system analysis using industry-standard tools (e.g., PSCAD, PSS/E, or PowerFactory).
- Controls and Protection: Assist in the development of control strategies and protection systems for HVDC and high-voltage networks.
- Project Support: Work collaboratively with project teams to support design, implementation, and testing of high-voltage electrical systems.
- Data Analysis: Interpret technical data and create reports to support engineering decisions and project outcomes.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain documentation, including engineering reports, technical specifications, and design studies.
- Presentation Skills: Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations and reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field), with a focus on power systems, high-voltage engineering, or control systems.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of high-voltage power transmission and distribution systems.
- Knowledge of HVDC systems, including controls, protection strategies, and converter station operations.
- Experience with power flow and stability studies, with hands-on exposure to simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD, PSS/E, or PowerFactory).
- Analytical Skills: Ability to perform detailed analysis of power systems, with a keen eye for identifying and solving problems.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with simulation and modeling software for load flow analysis and power system studies.
- Presentation Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, concise, and engaging presentations to internal teams and external clients.
- Team Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Internship or Project Experience in high-voltage power transmission, HVDC systems, or load flow studies.
- Familiarity with grid codes, electrical standards, and regulations related to high-voltage transmission.
- Experience with protection system design and HVDC control algorithms.
Why Join Us:
